- The Urban Farmers at the British School in Tokyo (BST) will be holding a workshop on the theme of sustainable urban development. In the first half, participants will take on the challenge of hydroponics, introducing how to grow plants without soil, its effects on climate change, and how to grow them at home. In the second half, participants will sow the seeds of the popular "microgreens," learning about food sustainability in a fun way while comparing the taste and nutritional value.
The Urban Farmers from The British School in Tokyo (BST) will host a workshop themed around building sustainable cities. In the first half, titled “Let's Try Hydroponics!”, participants will learn how to grow plants without soil, explore the environmental benefits of hydroponic farming, and discover how it can be done at home. In the second half, the focus will shift to the increasingly popular “microgreens.” Children will get hands-on experience sowing seeds, comparing flavors and nutritional value, and gaining a fun and practical understanding of sustainable food practices.

- Remarks
- ・Participants must be 1st grade elementary school students to junior high school students. Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Up to two parents may accompany children.
・The workshop will be conducted in simple English, but Japanese staff will be on hand to provide support.
・The organizers may ask you to bring materials to be used in the workshop (such as simple items like work gloves).
・If you have any allergies to food, medicine, etc., please let us know. If you need to prepare additional materials for the workshop, we will assist you.
・Water and soil will be used. Please wear clothes that are easy to move in and don't mind getting dirty.
