[Kita-Sanriku Factory] Fresh, seasonal sea urchins delivered directly from the "Sea Urchin Farm"! A special experience where you can enjoy them from shelling to tasting.
This is a special workshop for sea urchin lovers, designed to engage all five senses.

What we're offering this time are live sea urchins, delivered directly from the world's only "sea urchin farm®" located in northern Sanriku.
July is the peak season for sea urchins in northern Sanriku! Participants will get to experience shucking these exquisite sea urchins, which are rich in flavor and sweetness, themselves!

The tool we'll be using is a special "uni-pakkuri," a favorite among local fishermen and featured in an NHK morning drama series. It may look difficult at first glance, but the satisfying "pakkuri!" sound when you successfully peel a uni is addictive, so please give it a try! (Our staff will provide thorough support.)

The sea urchin you shucked yourself will be combined with approximately 40g of fresh sea urchin to create your own delicious "My Sea Urchin Bowl"!
Please enjoy the pure sweetness and umami that can only be achieved without using alum.

In addition to tastings of processed sea urchin products such as salted sea urchin, steamed sea urchin, and sea urchin butter, we will also be serving miso soup made with seaweed carefully harvested in northern Sanriku, so please look forward to it!

And in order to ensure that these delicious experiences continue for a long time to come, Shimotsubo, the representative of Kitasanriku Factory, which manufactures, processes, and sells sea urchins, and also a sea urchin evangelist, will talk about "the challenges currently facing the ocean."

In fact, there's been a surge in the number of empty, hollow sea urchins around the world right now.
Furthermore, the possibility of a future where sea urchins cause us to be unable to eat other seafood is becoming a real concern.

Knowing more about it makes you want to savor it even more.
By learning about it, you'll discover a way to contribute to environmental regeneration by eating sea urchins—a way that's good for both the planet and yourself.

Please come and experience a time that will nourish both your mind and body.

*Some products from Kitasanriku Factory will still be available for purchase on the day of the event. (Cash only)
*We offer souvenirs made from seaweed grown in the waters of northern Sanriku.
